Overview
The I73 Bale Shear Control Valve enables the bale cutting and film gripper functions to operate automatically from one hydraulic service. The system consists of a valve block that houses four cartridge valves, each with a specific function and pressure setting.
Valve Functions and Settings
1. Relief Valve – Set to 180 bar
Protects the machine from overload damage when attached to telehandlers or other machinery with hydraulic systems operating above 200 bar and is set to 180 bar
2. Gripper Pilot Operated Holding Valve
Maintains a secure grip on the film while the bale is being split.
Ensures film does not release prematurely.
Sequence Valves
3. Gripper Close Sequence Valve – Set to 100 bar (Red O-ring)
Gives priority to the film gripper to close before the cutter frame activates.
Rarely needs adjustment, but the pressure setting can be changed:
Anticlockwise = reduces pressure
Caution: Beware of the loose pin inside the cap
4. Gripper Open Sequence Valve – Set to 150 bar (Black O-ring)
Prevents oil pressure from reaching the film gripper to open until the main cylinders are fully open and pressure spikes.
- Adjustments may be needed for loaders with lower pressure systems:
- Anticlockwise = reduces setting
- Caution: Loose pin present inside cap
