Why do we have to Recharge Accumulator side of the Ram?
In some cases, the pressure may be lost from accumulator side of the ram. Symptoms of this low pressure will be where the arms will not fold fully or are lazy folding.
If the pressure is too high, then the ram will not be able to fully unfold the wrap arms.
Follow the steps below to correct this.
Step 1:
Step 2:
If the pressure is too low, then you will have to “pump” more oil into the ram. To achieve this, remove the blank marked in the photo above and insert appropriate fittings so you can attach a “hand pump” * to it.
NOTE:
When the Ram is in the fully open position, then the pressure should be approx. 40 Bar.
When the ram is in the fully closed position, then the pressure should be 70 Bar.
Step 3:
If it is a case that the pressure is far too high, then you will need to relieve some of this pressure. The safest and simplest way of doing this is to use a pipe that has an end that will screw into the test point and let it leak back from there.
**Beware of high pressure oil. Use safety glasses and gloves**
