This technical instruction outlines the correct procedure of wiring and mounting the m8 RPM Sensor (CEL00083) to the Tanco Q Series machines.
Wiring Instructions of RPM Sensor [CEL00083]
Step 1.Feed welding wire down along the RHS tower tube until it can be pulled completely through at the chassis located near the valve block of the machine.
Step 2.
Attach the cable to the welding wire using tape. Pull this 3 core cable completely through the tower tube until it exits the tube at the valve block of the machine.
Step 3.
Assemble the sensors to the new sensor bracket before mounting this bracket to the machine.
Step 5.
Connect the M12 Angled Sensor Cable to the RPM Sensor. Route the cabling through the hole provided on the top of the tower frame.
Please note that any machines manufactured before Janaury 2023 will need a hole drilled on the Slew Ring Mounting profile to accommodate for the additional RPM Sensor cable.
Once this is complete, place the rubber shield over the end of the end of the crimped wires before connecting these crimped wires to the 3 way duestch connector.
Step 6.
Connect all 3 crimped wires to the 3 way Deutsch connector.
Please note when connecting these 3 crimped wires to the 3 way Deutsch connector ensure that the wire and crimp are pushed through until you hear two clicks.
Please note that there is a specific orientation that these three wires are connected to within the 3 way Deutsch connector.
Point A = Black wire
Point B = Brown wire
Point C = Blue wire
Once the three crimped wires have been connected successfully to the 3 Way Deustch connector, place the wedge lock in place to secure the three pins of the Deutsch connector in place.
Step 7.
Connect the two Deutsch connectors together and feed the excess wiring down along the tower tube.
Step 8.
Feed the cable through the available gland on the junction that is highlighted in the image below.
Remove the cable coating from this cable so that the brown, green/yellow and blue wires are exposed within the junction box.
Connect these three wires to the PCB board as follows. Please see photos below explaining further.
Step 9.
Once everything has been wired into the junction box, the next step is to unfold the wrap arms of the machine and rotate the satetlite arms until the head of the bolt is directly underneath the rotate sensor (Green Tip sensor). The distance between the tip of the sesnor and the head of the bolt must be within 3mm.
Once the new RPM Speed sensor has been wired and connected to the machine and the distance of the rotate sensor set correctly, the next step is to update the software on the controller.
The software version that is compatitable with this new RPM Sensor is ‘EPS315-022-01’.
